As a long-term sufferer of PCOS, Attorney Butler has has her fertility issues and has always been fascinated by Assisted Reproductive Technology. She has dedicated her life to helping others on their journey to parenthood. As a Reproductive Technology lawyer, Attorney Sarajen Butler represents surrogates and Intended parents in traditional or gestational surrogacy agreements, preplanned adoption agreements, egg donor agreements, and sperm donor agreements. Attorney Butler considers herself an ally of the LGBTQIA community and as such, enjoys helping same-sex couples create their families. At the Dad Law Firm Attorney Butler will draft surrogacy agreements for same sex couples, assist with the formal adoption agreement, assist with applicable egg or sperm donor agreements, and proceed in court appropriately.  

 

The Dad Law Firm and was inspired to help fathers after a close friend had a negative family law experience. An acquaintance of Attorney Butler, was a hard-working man who happened to be a wonderful father to two young boys (for the privacy reasons, let's call him, Dad). Dad was experiencing difficulty co-parenting with his ex. He knew the two would no longer be able to manage their co-parenting relationship independently. The time came to get the courts involved and Dad only had two concerns. He wanted to know how often he would be able to see his children and how much money he would have to pay his ex monthly. He petitioned the court to establish paternity, time-sharing, and determine support.

As "Dad" navigated the self help process, he became overwhelmed and eventually decided to invest thousands of dollars into hiring an attorney. Ms. Butler noticed that as Dad journeyed through the intimidating court system, he was placed in a position where he was completely at the judge's mercy. He was forced to attend hearing after hearing and was in constant fear of having his children taken away from him or moved out of state without notice. To make matters worse, his attorney seemed to handle his case with a nonchalant, 'it could be worse' demeanor. On several occasions, they appeared in court and Dad was not allowed to speak to the judge or communicate his circumstances. 

 

After closely following this case, Ms. Butler realized that even an experienced attorney could have difficulty navigating the family court system. She realized that fathers face unique situations in a Family courtroom and Dad would have been better off with the assistance of a dedicated father's right attorney. Ms. Butler also realized that Dad just spent thousands of dollars and was left where he started. That is when the seed that would eventually grow into The DAD LAW Firm was first planted.

 

Ms. Butler made the decision to become an ally of good father's rights and dedicate herself to helping those who were at risk of losing their father's rights.
